Pediatricians and child and adolescent psychiatrists
need to collaborate more closely on the development
of new models for early identification and intervention,
as well as in the joint care of children with complex,
comorbid, and chronic conditions. |

The purpose of the Collaboration Essentials for Child and
Adolescent Psychiatry and
Pediatric Residents:Working Together to Treat the Child
(Collaboration Essentials)
program is to nurture this alliance by bringing together clinicians
from both specialties
at an optimal time to foster this collaboration—during
residency training. The goal of
this section is to describe the program’s central components
and to outline a practical
guide for implementing it.
